In the afternoon, disembark for an unforgettable exploration of Luxor’s legendary east bank temples:

  • Karnak Temple Complex — the largest religious complex ever built, a vast open-air wonder that took over 2,000 years to construct. Walk through the awe-inspiring Great Hypostyle Hall (with 134 massive columns up to 23 meters tall), the sacred lake, obelisks, and richly carved walls telling stories of pharaohs, gods, and battles. Feel the grandeur of ancient Egypt at its peak.
  • Luxor Temple — a beautifully preserved gem connected to Karnak by the famous Avenue of Sphinxes. Admire its elegant colonnades, towering statues of Ramses II, the granite obelisk (its twin now stands in Paris), and the subtle lighting that makes evening visits magical. This temple was dedicated mainly to the Theban triad (Amun, Mut, and Khonsu) and was a key site for the Opet Festival.

Dinner and overnight on board your Nile cruiser in Luxor. Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner [B, L, D]

Day 04: Luxor –West Bank – Valley of the Kings, Hatshepsut Temple & Colossi of Memnon

Luxor West Bank – Valley of the Kings, Hatshepsut Temple & Colossi of Memnon + Flight to Sharm El Sheikh Breakfast on board your Nile cruiser. Disembark in Luxor and begin your full-day exploration of the legendary West Bank, the ancient necropolis of Thebes.

Your tour includes the must-see highlights:

  • Colossi of Memnon — Two enormous 18-meter-tall quartzite statues of Pharaoh Amenhotep III (c. 1350 BC), standing sentinel over the floodplain. These weathered giants once flanked his massive mortuary temple (now mostly gone) and are an iconic first glimpse of the West Bank.
  • Temple of Hatshepsut at Deir el-Bahari — A breathtaking terraced mortuary temple built into the cliffs by Egypt’s most successful female pharaoh (c. 1479–1458 BC). Admire its elegant ramps, colonnades, intricate reliefs (depicting her expeditions to Punt), and dramatic setting—considered one of ancient Egypt’s greatest architectural achievements.
  • Valley of the Kings — The hidden royal burial ground of the New Kingdom pharaohs. Explore several beautifully decorated tombs (typically 3 included per entry ticket), with vibrant wall paintings, hieroglyphs, and treasures that reveal ancient beliefs in the afterlife. Highlights often include tombs like those of Ramses, Seti, or (with extra ticket) Tutankhamun’s famous discovery site.

[Tour includes lunch at a local restaurant or on the way.] In the evening, transfer to Luxor Airport for your flight to Sharm El Sheikh (short ~1-hour flight). Upon arrival at Sharm El Sheikh Airport, you will be met and transferred to your hotel.

Day 05: Nile Cruise – Kom Ombo Temple, Edfu Temple & Sail to Esna Early

Nile Cruise – Kom Ombo Temple, Edfu Temple & Sail to Esna Early morning sail from Aswan to Kom Ombo. Breakfast on board your Nile cruiser.

Disembark to visit the stunning Kom Ombo Temple, a rare and beautifully symmetrical Ptolemaic double temple (built ~180 BC–47 AD) uniquely dedicated to two deities: the crocodile-headed god Sobek (god of fertility, the Nile, and creation) and the falcon-headed Haroeris (Horus the Elder, god of the sky and protector of pharaohs). Admire the twin entrances, mirrored halls, sanctuaries, and intricate reliefs depicting medical instruments, crocodiles, and falcon motifs—plus panoramic Nile views from its riverside location.

Return to the cruiser and continue sailing to Edfu. Lunch on board.

In the afternoon, explore the magnificent Edfu Temple (Temple of Horus), one of the best-preserved and largest temples in Egypt. This Ptolemaic masterpiece (built 237–57 BC) honors the falcon-god Horus, with towering pylons (over 36 meters high), granite falcon statues guarding the entrance, vast hypostyle halls, and detailed carvings narrating the myth of Horus’s victory over Seth. It’s a highlight for its completeness and dramatic scale.

Continue sailing north through the scenic Nile landscape toward Esna (often including passage through the Esna Lock). Dinner and overnight on board your Nile cruiser (moored near Esna or en route). Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner [B, L, D]

Day 06: Aswan High Dam & Philae Temple
  • The Aswan High Dam – a modern engineering triumph completed in 1970. Discover how it controls the Nile’s floods, generates hydroelectric power, and created the vast Lake Nasser, with stunning panoramic views of the dam, reservoir, and surrounding desert landscape.
  • The ancient Granite Quarries and the famous Unfinished Obelisk – a colossal 42-meter-long, 1,200-ton granite monolith left unfinished due to cracks during carving. This unique site reveals ancient pharaonic stone-working techniques, with visible tool marks and the obelisk still embedded in the bedrock.

Return to the cruiser for lunch on board.

In the afternoon, take a scenic motorboat ride to Philae Temple (Temple of Isis), one of Egypt’s most enchanting sites. This beautifully preserved Ptolemaic temple, dedicated to the goddess Isis, was relocated stone-by-stone to Agilkia Island to save it from flooding by Lake Nasser. Admire its graceful pylons, hypostyle halls, colonnades, and intricate reliefs depicting the myth of Osiris, Isis, and Horus. The serene island setting and golden afternoon light create a magical atmosphere.

Later, enjoy a relaxing felucca sail — a traditional wind-powered sailboat ride around the picturesque Nile islands. Glide past lush greenery, watch local life along the riverbanks, and take in views of the Nilometer on Elephantine Island or nearby sites. This peaceful experience captures the timeless beauty of the Nile.
